U-12's win League Final!!!
DERRYGONNELLY ................................. 4-8 ROSLEA ................................................ 3-5
Two goals in each half went a long way to securing the division three silverware for Derrygonnelly in this nicely balanced
clash with Roslea. There was only a two point gap separating the teams at the interval and all through the second
half it was to be basically a similar story, neither team able to exert any great or sustained spell of ascendancy. Derrygonnelly
however were never to be headed and they just looked that little bit more efficient. But they were never to be in the comfort
zone and Roslea were always there with every chance of pushing the game into added on time. But close to the final
whistle the argument was to be settled as Derrygonnelly popped in their fourth and decisive goal of the day and there was
no comeback from chasing Roslea. For the winners, team captain Tara McLoughlin in goal pulled off a number of crucial
stops while in the full back line, Conor Cameron enjoyed a steady match. In the middle of the park the Harps were to be well
served by the hardworking duo of Garvin Jones and Conor Hoye while in the forward line, there were to be especially solid
displays turned in by Darragh McGovern, Lee Jones and Colm Jones. For Roslea who certainly battled with commitment
right to the end, Shane Mohan was a very effective corner back and Conor Lynam gained a lot of possession for his side in
the centre of the park. In the Shamrocks attack, centre half forward Miceal Jordan was always a force and others to shine
for them included, Donal Mohan and Dermot McAleer. It was Roslea who enjoyed the early success and they knocked in
a quick goal from Cathal Gorman. This was to be cancelled out by a Derrygonnelly goal which came some ten minutes later, long
distance free from Colm Jones sailing into the net. Points for Derrygonnelly were to be contributed by Garvin Jones
with Cathal Lynam and Donal Mohan responding for Roslea. There were to be two more goals scored before the interval, Stephen
Gilroy rifling in a low strike for Derrygonnelly, and Dermot McAleer found the net for Roslea. On the changeover it was a
case of nip and tuck and play swung from end to end. Again a goal was to be delivered for each team. Conor Hoye got onto the
end of long punt in to fist a Harps goal and Donal Mohan netted for Roslea on fifty minutes. That score narrowed the
deficit to two but Roslea, despite some earnest effort on their part, couldn't prise out a crucial fourth goal. Instead that
score eventually fell to Derrygonnelly, Colm Jones picking off his chance and that sent his side a comfortable six points
clear. TEAMS Derrygonnelly Tara McLoughlin; Conor Cameron; John Joe Moore; James McGrail; Conor Woods;
