Derrygonnelly made a dramatic finishing burst to this game as they struck for two late
goals to turn the tables on a Kinawley team, who must have thought they had done more than enough to win the match. Kinawley
had led by a goal at the break, points from Tomas Corrigan, Aiden Clarke and Ciaran McHugh plus a fifteenth minute goal from
Gavin Keenan putting them in command. Ryan Jones had some answering scores for Derrygonnelly but the Harps finding it hard
enough going and with Corrigan knocking over a couple of 45's for Kinawley the game seemed to have gone beyond Derrygonnelly's
reach. But they gained a lifeline with just a few minutes remaining when Stephen McGurn struck for a goal and suddenly the
tenor of the game changed. Kinawley, who had previously looked very confident, now were under pressure and that pressure
finally told for a strong finishing Derrygonnelly team as Kevin Maguire rammed home the winning goal in added-on time. For
the winners, wing half-back Ray Moore had a fine match with substitute Nathan McDonnell also doing well, while for Kinawley,
Gavin Keenan in the forward line, and Ryan Scallon in the back division were the most consistent players.
